February facts

Game one: "Baretta"
Baretta! 1970's era street savvy nemesis of the criminal underworld! Baretta! Hip moxied law enforcer so stylin' he can wear bird crap on his shoulder and none dare say P-U! Baretta! The Game! Each player takes his turn as Baretta hunting down a potential murderer, a maybe safecracker, a possible ...uh ...forger? And a could be ...eh ...er ...fibber? Pickpocket? Jewel thief? Who can recall these details when the action is so intense! Baretta runs his tiny legs ragged across the board searching for clues, getting beaten up, being lied to, cheated on, urped over, trod underfoot, misled, traipsed back and forth until at weary last a crook is cornered, caught and cuffed! Victory!

Here we see Mr D in his winning flush after having finally putting this case to bed. But wait! What's this? Controversy? Say it ain't so! Our own G-Man has pointed out that he closed in for the kill on his own turn seconds before! He should be the rightful winner! Uh ...shall we re-read the rules? Nope! Not happenin' on this nights watch. We got other games to go over and this turgid time waste won't be on the list again for quite awhile

DrKirby (at top) was the only player who paid attention to the rules as they were read and did not care to hear them again either so tough luck for BARETTA! Bye!!!!!

Game Two: "Russian Roulette"
I can just imagine the "sell spiel" when someone came up with this idea for a kids board game. "It'll be great, chief! All the children and adults too will love playing Russian Roulette!" Hmm. Don't think this was a big seller. Players take turns betting on which cards from a 24 card deck will come up as they are turned over one by one. New shuffle after every ace is turned.

At left we see the field of play. Three levels of gamblin' fever are set. You can go for 3, 5 or 24 times your money. If you run out of dough you get a "gun chip" and allowed to bet once more on one card. Lose? Then you win by staying alive and getting more money. Win? Then you lose and are ...out of the game so to speak.

After a frenzied bet-a-thon yours truly brought home the win in a single card vs card draw playoff taking out Dr Kirby with a 10 of Spades over his 9 of Clubs! Several fortunes were won and lost in the process so thank goodness it was all only "play"!

Poor Mr D actually got taken out by the "gun chip" and was ignominiously dumped from the game. Finally we see an enraged Dr K taking out his grievance with the board in an altogether appropriate manner. This one was actually fun but recommend it? Well ...I think this is for "mature" players only. Let's leave it at that!

Game Three: " The $1,000,000 Pyramid"
Fondly remembered from it's years on the small screen we see it below microscopically shrunk into it's travel format, a pathetic semblance of the titan it once was. I mean, really! A half a dozen non-descript pieces of cardboard, a plastic 30 second egg timer and a chunk of red cellophane? Still the action was thrill packed and intense. I bowed out of the contest for this round, my own abilities at quick peripheral descriptive summation being nil.

Below we see the triumphant wieners ...that is ...WINNERS ...gloating over their victory. The other team came close but we weren't, as they say, playing horse shoes. See you next month!
